- Use your professional judgment to determine if it is useful
Check the source. Is it reputable?
Check the author. Do they have a history of publishing on the topic. What organisation are they from?
- Know the subject - does the material make sense with what you already know? Cross check the information with other information on the topic. Is it consistent?
Internet information can be used in a number of different ways. Consider how you will use it:
- Take it as fact
Use it to stimulate your thinking in a different direction
Use it as core information or as a supplement to build on existing information
Use it (pictures, cartoons, music) to enhance presentation and seek interest
- Use it to develop group brainstorming
Who are you giving the information to? How will they use it?
- Any information provided to clients should be checked thoroughly to ensure it is applicable for the intended use.
To assist with this read the information first.
